HaroldAllnut Coffins already has a preternatural talent for working solid grooves into their death-doom, and the Eyehategod cover on this comp brings that talent to the fore in a really goddamn entertaining fashion! Favorite track: Sisterfucker Part 1 (Eyehategod cover).

fyeahmetal These 24 tracks are evidently from 5 different releases, but somehow it all hangs together, due to Coffins having such a singular sound: 70% death metal, 20% doom, 10% sludge. The sludge covers are a blast (the Eyehategod one is scarily faithful, while the Iron Monkey one is delightfully scathing) and slot right in next to all the death/doom. Killer riffs abound, but I approach this collection as simply jumping into a scuzzy sonic world called Coffins. (11/10, would visit again.) Favorite track: Under The Stench (alt. version).
